Connect LeadWise to ChatGPT
Use your LeadWise contacts, deals and sequences from ChatGPT, including deep research, with every change shown to you before it is made.
Connecting LeadWise to ChatGPT lets you look things up, build lists and draft outreach from a chat, and lets deep research read your CRM alongside the web. ChatGPT works in LeadWise as you, sees only what you can see, and changes nothing without showing you first.
Before you start
- A ChatGPT plan that allows custom apps. On Business, Enterprise and Edu plans an admin may need to allow it for the workspace first.
- A LeadWise account. Your workspace admin can turn assistants off, or limit them to some roles, in Settings > Connected apps.
- The connector address:
https://app.getleadwise.ai/mcp
Add LeadWise in ChatGPT
- 1
Find LeadWise or turn on developer mode
If LeadWise is listed in the ChatGPT app directory, add it from there and skip to signing in. Otherwise open Settings, then Apps and Connectors, then Advanced settings, and turn on Developer mode.
- 2
Create the connector
Choose Create, name it LeadWise, paste
https://app.getleadwise.ai/mcpand pick OAuth for authentication. ChatGPT identifies itself to LeadWise, so there is no client ID to enter. - 3
Sign in to LeadWise
A LeadWise window opens. Sign in if you are asked to.
- 4
Choose what to share
The consent screen lists what ChatGPT can see and change. Everyday areas start ticked, sensitive ones start unticked, and every kind of change starts unticked. Tick what you want and choose Allow access.
- 5
Use it in a chat
Start a chat, open the tools menu and pick LeadWise, or mention it by name. For deep research, add LeadWise as a source.
What to ask
| You want to | Ask something like |
|---|---|
| Research an account | "Research Fresh Organics on the web and compare it with what LeadWise has on them." |
| Check the pipeline | "Which open deals have not moved in 30 days, and who owns them?" |
| Build a list | "Create a segment of distributors in Texas with more than 50 employees." |
| Write outreach | "Draft a short intro template for that segment, with our logo at the top." |
| Find new people | "Find procurement leads at US grocery chains and add the five best fits." |
How changes work
If you allowed changes, ChatGPT can create templates, sequences, segments, contacts, companies, deals and tasks. Each change happens in two steps. ChatGPT first shows a preview of exactly what it will do, and the change is made only after you agree.
Some things always stay in LeadWise: deleting records, removing people from lists, importing files, connecting mailboxes, and changing billing, team or workspace settings.
Change or remove access
Open Settings > Connected apps in LeadWise to see what ChatGPT can do and to disconnect it, which takes effect at once. To give it more, disconnect and connect again and tick more. Admins can see and disconnect every connection in the workspace and set rules for who may connect.
ChatGPT does not show the Create option
Developer mode is off, or your workspace admin has not allowed custom apps. Turn it on under Advanced settings, or ask your ChatGPT admin.
ChatGPT says it is not allowed to do something
Either this connection was not given that area, or your LeadWise role does not allow it. Ask ChatGPT to check your access in LeadWise; it will say which.
Does OpenAI train on my LeadWise data?
What ChatGPT reads from LeadWise is handled under your account with OpenAI and its data controls. LeadWise does not use it to train AI models. See our privacy policy.
Do
- Share only the areas you will actually ask about
- Read every preview before you agree to a change
- Disconnect apps you no longer use
Don't
- Allow changes on a shared or demo account
- Agree to an enrollment or schedule you have not read
- Expect ChatGPT to delete records; do that in LeadWise
